What this trip means to me............
I suppose you could say that its down to Bob Richards that I'm set to embark upon this journey back in time. Maybe if he'd decided not to return after that bank session, none of us would be buzzing with excitement of our future trips to where it all began. It will be a great honour to visit the pool, let's be honest, most of us would probably settle for a walk around, maybe stop at our favourite swim to have lunch, then back off home with wonderful memories and pictures not only on our camera's but in our minds that we'll cherish forever.
I, for one, have been smitten by the pool ever since A Passion For Angling was aired. Although I was a sea angler at the time, it captured the hearts of any angler, in fact, you didn't even have to be an angler, all of a sudden it all made sense. There were many "normal" people who thought us mad to spend so much time sitting by a pool hoping that some unseen monster just might take the bait, but, anyone who actually took the time to sit and watch the masterpeice unfold before them, now fully understood the reason behind the madness.
Although I was a sea angler, I still felt the passion and the desire that was being portrayed, I never thought for one minute that it may be me one day visiting the most famous pool in angling history and piting my witts against the wariest Carp in the land. But here we are, almost 15 years on and it finally here, destiny has led me here and it will be an experience I will embrace with open arms. A chance to see first hand the real life pictures that have been in my dreams for so long.
Since taking up Carp fishing and going through the natural progression of runs waters through to being that little bit more choosy about where you fish and what for, I always envisaged that a visit to Redmire would be the final salute, the victory, I had got to where I wanted to go. But its more than that, when I return I will still crave the other waters that I fish, thats what being an habitual angler is all about, you can never get enough, and, no doubt, I will return in october for my second visit with just as much optimism and excitement.
So there you have it, a pleasant little ramble, trying to explain what fishing and this forthcoming trip means to me, hope you understand, although I'll have a bet you all feel exactally the same!!
Stay lucky
SK

great words sk couldn't be happier for you or agree with your words more we all have a target in our fishing be it a fish or a venue. These targets and the feeling it gives us is what makes us return time and time again. Have a great trip mate slow down, enjoy and take it all in
